Dorothy Jean Speak 75, went to be with the Lord on the morning of June 12, 2013. She died peacefully at her home in Kerens, Texas with family present. She was born March 30, 1938 in Kaufman County to Mary Ellen Capps and Allen L. Flatt. She was the youngest of eight children, plus a large extended family. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Edwin Speak, who she joined in marriage on Feb. 6, 1956. She is also survived by her children, Bruce Speak, Kathy Inmon, Kim Carty and her husband Russell Carty, all of Kerens, TX, Wendy Colburn and her husband Shane Colburn, of Midlothian, TX, her grandchildren Cody Speak, of Trinidad, TX, Jeremy Speak, of Malakoff, TX, Joshua Speak of Tool, TX, Alex Inmon, of Tyler, TX, Kendall Hutson of Mabank, TX, Zak Inmon of Kerens, TX, Tyler, Blake, and Brett Colburn of Midlothian, TX, Tori, Tanner, and Rachel Carty of Kerens, TX, and Rebekah Speak, of Kerens, TX, her sisters, Louise Anthony, of Eustace, TX, and Wanda Moore of Mesquite, TX. and also many cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
She attended Eustace High School, and also attended college in Henderson County, but her faith in God led her to her true calling. She attended Christ for the Nations Institute, where she earned her degree in Practical Theology, and she also later became an ordained minister. She supported and was active in several churches and ministries, including The First Assembly of God of Athens, TX, where she most recently attended.
She was known as Dorothy or Dot by her family, friends, and extended "spiritual family", and she was also lovingly called "Momma", and "Ninny", by her children, grandchildren, and many "spiritual children". She embraced her many roles in life: Wife, Mother, Caregiver, Mentor, Minister, Teacher, and Friend.
