Condolence & Memory Journal

"Smooch" - that's how I remember Jim. He was married to my sister, Joanie, for many years. I was going through some of her pictures this week and was thinking lots about both her and Smooch. So, I have just found out he passed away. We hadn't been in touch in recent years since Joanie passed in 2001. I remember going to visit them in Dallas. They both loved 'happy hour' at the various hotels/restaurants and we always had so much fun. When they returned to Milwaukee for work/visits they always stayed at the Sheraton on Hwy 100 and North and I would meet them for 'happy hour' there. I remember his smile and laugh the most! This picture of him is exactly how I think of him - always dressed up from work wearing his suspenders looking so handsome! Even though we hadn't talked in awhile he was always in my heart! He is forever loved and missed by me!

I will always love your name! Although we were only a few years apart, you always seemed more worldly, wiser and mature than me. Your infectious laugh could turn a cloudy day into a sunny day. You left us to early. You are one of a kind and I am better for having known you.

Your friend,

Ray Gee

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away
And Lord, I guess we can see that day by day
But it doesn't seem like there's been much time
For me to spend with this Friend of mine.

Looking back, it doesn't seem so long
That we were both young and strong
What one couldn't think of, the other could
And what one wouldn't do, the other would.

Now, we did not go to do any wrong
We did what it took to get along
It just seemed like, that in our day
There was too much work and not enough play.

There's lots of things I'd like to say
But sometimes words get in the way
But you can touch down deep inside
I'd like your touch for this Friend of mine.

Tell him that this world we know
Is just a place to get ready to go
To Heaven's land so fair and fine
You've made for folks like this Friend of mine.

Let him know you've paid the fare
For what it costs to get him there
He just needs the ticket to get in line
It's important Lord, He's a Friend of mine.

James, you will always be a Friend of Mine,
John Sokolowski
